Midwifery is a health care profession that helps expectant mothers.They provide prenatal care and, obviously, they are there when the expectant mothers are giving birth. And they also provide postpartum care.Midwives are not nurses but if they choose to, they can be. But they have a governing body so they are being regulated.  But where do the misunderstandings come in?

The misconception comes from the practice of giving birth at home.  In my practice of helping women as a San Diego midwife, homebirths are where people get confused.People think that home birthing is an unsafe way of delivering a baby. But if the pregnancy is a low-risk one then this method is very safe.Midwives also carry necessary medical equipments in case something unavoidable happens.  And in general because of the method of deliveries most complications are avoided.
