For the past few days we all have been reading about swine flu. Swine flu has killed more than 100 people and caused many casualties. This virus has caused panic in several minds. Citizens of US and especially Mexico are spending sleepless nights wondering if they are the next to fall prey to this virus. The sudden outbreak of swine flu has posed a big challenge to the medical department. With no instant vaccine ready to cure the disease, doctors are having a tough time dealing with swine flu affected people.

As of today there is no particular treatment that can cure swine flu. A few days back this flu was common only in pigs. The life threatening disease is known to pass on from person to person. It happens so quick that you are left with no time to protect yourself. Just like the normal seasonal flu, swine flu is known to be contagious. The virus is known to pass even if an affected person sneezes or the virus comes in contact with other person. The human immune system is weak and cannot fight the virus that has components of pigs and birds.

To be honest large numbers of people are affected as there is no cure for the swine flu virus or at least the experts are yet to figure it out. The only way doctors can help people infected with swine flu is by a vaccinethat can restrict the virus from multiplying. Once the growth of virus is stopped, the person will get time to take other medical help and fight the disease. Anti virus medicines like Tamiflu comes in handy to deal with swine flu. When it’s a pandemic, a person affected with the disease is isolated so that other people do not come in contact with him/her. This hurts and can break you down; however, this is the only way to prevent a huge part the population from getting swine flu.

The only option you have to fight swine flu is prevention. Wear mask that covers your mouth and nose so that no virus enters in. Keep distance from people who show symptoms of swine flu. Remember these symptoms are similar to the normal flu that we have. N95 respirator is another medical tool that can protect you from the dreadful disease. A person should clean his hands with medicated soap to prevent himself from any virus. The outcome of bird flu and SARS had made it possible to be ready with some useful medical equipments and vaccines or the world would have been seeing the worst today.

A person with weak immune system finds it hard fight such a virus. Thus try and make your immune system strong by eating the right food in the correct amount. You can consult your doctor for more information on the same. A person should consume enough quantity of fruits and purified water only after washing his hands. Make sure you take in lots of vitamins via your food. A person with swine flu like symptoms should not get in touch with other normal people. Follow high level of hygiene to keep the virus away.

There are no treatment options for swine flu as yet. Prevention is the only measure you can take to protect yourself.
