1 November 2009 No Comment

Many people seem to think that psoriasis and eczema can only occur in adults, but unfortunately they are very wrong in this case. There is no cure for psoriasis and so it often recurs throughout life. People know little about psoriasis although it effects a huge number of people around the world. Only as of very recently has the issue of psoriasis been taken more seriously, and thus more people have learned more about it.

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin disease that is considered as being one that runs in families, in that it is genetic and if someone in your family had it, you have a chance of getting it. It is still unknown how the disease passes through the generations so one can never guarantee that they will or will not develop psoriasis.

More About Psoriasis and Eczema in Children.

Psoriasis in children basically works the same way that it does when it affects adults, in that there is a showing of red patches over areas of the skin, and dry flakes that tend to fall off of the skin. Often the disease can go unnoticed if they are mild, even if your own child has the disease, it will not always be obvious and affect their lives.

The symptoms of psoriasis and eczema can be similar to other skin diseases so if you notice anything on your child’s body, take them to the doctor for a definitive diagnosis and so that they can receive the proper treatment.

Remember to ask your doctor any and all questions that you may have, so that you can be as informed as possible, especially since it has to do with your children. Also remember however that there are many different forms of treatment available for psoriasis and eczema and so you want to make sure that you do not freak out and that you realize that there are so many different types of help that are available to you and your children here and so you really should not be worried.

Psoriasis and eczema do not have to ruin your child’s life as the majority of the time symptoms are mild and will go unnoticed.
