Main resource of power for the body is glucose. Carbohydrates get transformed into sugar as we take rich carbohydrates meals and it passes through our blood. The cells apply this glucose to bring out different body actions. The quantity of glucose in the blood is controlled by the hormone called as insulin. Insulin make certain that standard blood glucose level is maintained which is advantageous for the body. Anything higher or lower may cause some diseases or complicated health issues. Normal blood glucose levels To be able to keep glucose levels under control you need to know what the normal blood glucose level is. Generally glucose levels are at lowest in the morning before your first meals. They go up only after you take any food. On the other hand, they should be in the insignificant range of 80mg/dL to 150mg/dL (i.e. 3.9 to 8.3mmol/L). The level may temporarily get higher to 150mg/dL after food intake. On the other hand, if you have chronic blood glucose levels less than 70mg/dL it is a symptom of low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. You may be a victim of hyperglycemia or high blood sugar or diabetes if the level is higher than 150. High blood glucose does not always indicate diabetes, but you should take advice to doctors to verify the results. Levels of blood glucose either very high or very low can cause destruction to your body. The effect of very low level effects in mental health and loss of consciousness and high level causes nerve damage, kidney damage. Blood glucose test and their normal ranges To understand whether your blood glucose levels are within the range, you can undergo some tests that would give you the actual measures. Fasting blood glucose test: This test is conducted after 8 hours of fasting. The normal blood glucose level for this test is advised at 110mg/dL or 6.1mmol/L. If the test result is more than 126mg/dL after two successive blood tests you may be a victim of diabetes. * Oral glucose tolerance test: The oral test helps measure your body’s response to sugar. It is done by measuring your fasting blood sugar first and then drinking a sugary solution. Again the glucose level is measured after two hours. The level for this test too should be less than 140mg/dL or 7.8mmol/L. Blood glucose levels in children also may be high or low. . It is compulsory for diabetics as well as normal people to maintain their blood glucose levels in the normal range for living a healthy life.
