Stay Healthy Even When Everyone Else Gets Sick
Filed Under (Medicine) by jeandit

The outbreak of swine flu has understandably caused a lot of concern around the globe. Now more than ever we need to do everything we can to stay healthy. Keeping our immune system strong is critical. I came across some great information on how to do that at one of my favorite health sites JF McCaffrey MD

The first bit of advice is to handle stress. we all realize that the average person has more stress now than ever before. If we let stress get out of control, we’ll not only detract from the quality of our lives, we will in fact set ourselves up to become sick.

A dramatic proof of this is a study in which volunteers were exposed to a cold virus. Before the exposure the researchers determined the amount of stress the volunteers had in their life. Being exposed to a virus doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get a cold. Normally our immune system protects us. In this study, the volunteers who who had the most stress when they were exposed to the virus were the ones who became developed a cold.

There are many effective ways to manage stress. Among these are the relaxation response, meditation, hypnosis, visualization and so forth. The important thing is to pick a approach that makes sense to you and use it as part of your daily routine.

The next bit of advice is to get adequate sleep. This is an area that too many people neglect today and unfortunately pay the price for it.

Research reported in a major medical journal shows the effect. People who had less than seven hours of sleep each night were more than three times as likely to come down with a cold during the course of the study as those who slept for eight or more hours.

Even relatively minor interruptions in sleep during the night affect the immune system and led to higher rates of illness.

Getting a good nights sleep is vital for our health, but too many people fail to do so.

There’s a lot more you can do to keep your immune system strong. You owe it to yourself to visit Keep Your Immune System Strong.

While you are there be sure to sign up to get your free report on “The Surprising Power of the Heart”.

It reveals that the heart is much more than a pump and that its rhythm contain secrets that affect our entire body and all its systems including the immune system. It’s information that everyone needs to know.

Again, you can find this report at JF McCaffrey MD

I hope this helps you stay well.
