Chickweed Herb Decreases Swelling

Chickweed is often viewed as nothing but exactly what its name suggests – a weed. Because chickweed seeds are blown all over by the wind, this plant spreads really easily from one lawn to the next. Because chickweed is so common and its positive effects as an herbal remedy are mild, the great benefits of chickweed herb are often overlooked.

There are a lot of different herbal remedies that chickweed herb is a part of. One of the most famous folk uses of chickweed was as a cure for obesity. Chickweed can help with weight loss because it acts as a diuretic and helps to keep people from feeling hungry. This is not the only use for the plant, however.

One of the most best uses for chickweed herbs is to bring down swelling and help lessen the pain a person is feeling. Thus, it has been and still is used in ointments, creams, and the like for the treatment of various skin conditions such as acne, sores, boils, rashes, and burns.

It is not only useful for helping with external pain, it can also be used internally. If you want to try this you can either eat it as you would any other leafy green or you can make it into a tea and drink it. Chickweed herb can sometimes even stop bleeding in the stomach and the rest of the digestive system, and it will help to make an upset stomach feel better. It is even said that this herb can get rid of the plaque and toxins that are sometimes found in the blood.

This is a very helpful herb which can be used in efforts to prevent all sorts of different conditions. Sometimes chickweed herb can be used in place of prescription drugs or over-the-counter drugs as a natural alternative. However, this should always be discussed with your doctor first because it isn’t safe to self diagnose and treat.

Though chickweed herb is mild, this does not mean that it is not effective, and thus it does not deserve to continue to be overlooked. The commonness of chickweed makes it so that it will be easy to find whatever amount you might need to cure what is bothering you. Another reason chickweed is overlooked is that its pollen is a common allergen. However, once chickweed is dried, it almost never causes allergy symptoms.

As noted above, the possible disadvantages of chickweed can be overcome with relatively little difficulty so that its many health benefits can be enjoyed. It’s main uses are as a natural alternative to other products used for lessening pain and decreasing swelling, but it can be helpful in other treatments as well.
